Presently, the small and marginal farmers practice unsustainableand expensive agriculture with low productivity and exploitative marketlinkage. As a consequence, agriculture is no more economically viable andlucrative for rural youth. Examples of interventions of technology based, market linked and context specific organic agriculture with appropriateinstitutional framework have been shown to fetch apt value for thefarmers. Through such a system, farmers are in a position to get rightinput and services in right time at right price; and obtain proper packageof practices for agro production, protection, processing and marketing. Tomake the system sustainable, efforts are being made for local valueaddition, local market creation and participation in regional and globalmarket. Standard package of agri and allied sector practices are beingcontextualized. Progressive farmers are trained as Community ResourcePersons (CRP) to provide input and output services. For sustainability, services of CRPs are compensated through appropriate margins from theagriculture input and output. To manage the risk and obtain a fair pricefor the farmers with high reliability, cluster approach is taken up. Keyis integration of institutions (academia, industry, civil society andgovernment) for creating an enabling ecosystem for sustainable developmentof the underprivileged sections of the society.
