"Reduction of Effort & Ergonomics Index (EEI) in cabin mounting stage" at Ashok Leyland, Haldwani, Uttarakhand

During the four weeks internship, a project was carried out at Cabin Mounting stage at Chassis Assembly shop. In Cabin mounting stage, 9 to 11 operations were carried out based on various models. The down time was maximum in this stage and the pull chord through which the halt happens in the line was at a distance of 9 meter from station. It was high risk to go and pull the chord for any worker while performing his/her specific operation. EEI was calculated for the situation in which the pull chord is at a distance of 9 meter which was 122. Later assuming ideal case in which the switch is at the station, EEI was again calculated and the value was 22. There was overall 87 percent reduction in EEI. The switch was installed in the station. Total down time reduction per annum was 51 hours. (3 July to 5 August, 2016)
