Under the guidance of Prof. Pennan Chinnasamy, CTARA’s M. Tech. second-year student Aman Srivastava was shortlisted in top 20 across country in the poster competition at 2nd International Conference on “Sustainable Water Management” organized from Nov 6 to 8, 2019 by Ministry of Jal Shakti (MoJS), Department of Water Resources, RD, & GR, Govt. of India under the aegis of National Hydrology Project and in technical collaboration with Central Water Commission and Central Ground Water Board. The poster was presented to hon’ble Jal Shakti Minister Shri Gajendra S. Shekhawat, hon’ble Secretary, MoJS Shri U. P. Singh, and Shri I. S. Chahal, IAS & Principal Secretary, Water Resources Dept., GoM. The poster discussed the methodology on comprehensive management of water resources in arid and semi-arid regions of Southern Indian peninsula at micro-watershed level through community-level participation. In the same conference, two abstracts were also published in the conference proceedings. In the first abstract, the study was based on identifying the potential of traditional water harvesting bodies for holistic surface water-groundwater management and documented the impact and challenges for the same in modern times. In the second abstract, the focus of the study was on understanding the LULC change in the academic campus and its impact on the sustainability of the ecological services with a case study of IIT Bombay.
