Abstract:

The resurgence and emergence of infectious diseases have rekindled interest in public health surveillance systems due to their crucial role in disease control and prevention. The advent of information technology has profoundly transformed these systems, enhancing their ability to manage extensive discrete data sets and thereby expanding the scope of knowledge derived from them. Despite these advancements, there remains a lack of consideration for underlying structural deficiencies, local variations in practices, institutional contexts, and global policy influences that shape the construction and interpretation of data. This study employs a multi-case study methodology to explore the interactions between digital interventions, institutions, and the informational practices of health personnel involved in disease surveillance programs. The literature review, research methods, and fieldwork plan were presented in the previous APS. This APS addresses the feedback and recommendations provided by the committee members and presents findings from a field visit focusing on dengue surveillance.
